Imagine this: the students who bravely stepped into high school amidst the whirlwind of the pandemic are now on the verge of graduating. Wow!

Those are the very students with a fantastic opportunity to attend a 9-month Gap Year focused on worship in Costa Rica. That’s right! Ad Lib Music is opening registration for six to eight high school graduates (up to age 25) for something we’re calling “The Launch 61.”

We are passionate about launching worshipers—leaders who are “a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor,” as Isaiah 61 declares. Hence the name.

The Gap Year program has many unique components, including:

  • Training in worship, music, band skills, leadership

  • Weekly experience working with various local worship teams

  • Opportunities to learn, work, and minister at two discipleship training schools

  • An epic adventure of a 16-day professionally guided, 175-mile hike from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.

  • Learning the basics of adulting - cooking, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, carpentry, finances, shopping, etc.

  • Serving alongside the Helmuth family

  • Getting to build relationships in local Costa Rican homes each week

  • Experience in leadership, entrepreneurship, and hosting with missionaries and short-term teams

  • Live in the mountains of Costa Rica, where the temperature year-round is 55-75

Our whole family is pretty excited to jump in!

The registration deadline is July 31, 2025. The Launch 61 runs from September 7 through June 12, with a month-long break over Christmas, during which students can return home, explore Costa Rica, or travel abroad.

I’m letting the Worship Fertilizer community know because I’d love to give leaders we’ve already been sowing into the chance to send their people first!

Who might be a good fit for The Launch 61? Please let them know about this. They can see all the details at https://www.thelaunch61.com/.
