Local Worship Training
I’m inviting you to a worship training event on April 5th in Lancaster, PA.
A long time ago, the Worship Link (which we helped lead) held two local worship training events a year in that area. The idea closely aligned with Ad Lib’s heart. The events were designed to “Inspire, Connect, and Equip” worship teams, and the uniqueness was that we wanted the teachers to be local leaders - ones you could meet up for coffee with after the event. It was a sweet season, and the region deeply benefited from its existence. But October 12, 2019 was the last event. Think of all that’s changed since then! It’s time to gather again, y’all.
These events will have a similar but simpler vibe. The goal is to provide opportunities for local churches to receive practical training, enjoy the camaraderie of knowing other local teams (“Oh that happens at your church too?!”), and meet local coaches and leaders to build long-term relationships with.
Many of our Worship Fertilizer community are in Pennsylvania, but if you’re not, I’m curious if this excites you. Do you wish there was one being offered in your area? If so, let us know!
I will tell you what we will do at this training, but I will also tell you what is required to host one of these events at your church if you’re interested in hosting one.
First, you’ll learn how understanding what motivates is the roadmap to having the most fun and being the most effective individually and as a team. Whether you know the Five Faders or it’s brand new to you, you’ll take steps toward becoming the best version of yourself and help your team grow in confidence and effectiveness.
Then, you’ll get to apply those principles to learning how to elevate your music in an interactive guided discussion time.
Have you ever stared at a chord chart, unsure how to make music from it? Or have you ever been stumped in helping your team sound… a little more like the recording or a little more musical? We’ll discuss how to read chord charts more effectively, learn ideas that explore music theory beyond the written chords, learn tricks for understanding all keys, and learn how to listen for and add what your band is missing.
Our schedule for the morning:
8:45 Coffee and donuts fellowship
9:15 Worship
9:45 Interactive teaching and guided discussion
12:00 Lunch (with discussion questions based on the teaching)
1:00 End
Pretty simple! And here’s the best part. You can bring your whole team for only $149, including lunch.
Now IF you’re interested in hosting one of these events at your church, here are the Host Church Responsibilities.
1. Use of the facilities
Sanctuary and Audio, Video, and Lighting systems (Ad Lib will provide the worship team and tech team - Ad Lib will run lyrics and provide the song list a week before the event for the church to prepare the playlist in ProPresenter)
Foyer/Gathering space, set up with refreshments to open the event
Fellowship Hall (or space to share a meal)
2. Provide refreshments and lunch
Have coffee, tea, and juice along with donuts or pastries (bonus points for a gluten-free option)
Provide lunch for the attendees. We recommend it be “home cooking” made by church members (several casseroles, etc.). And again, bonus points for a gluten-free option)
3. General schedule
Friday night, 7:00 PM rehearsal for event worship team
Event runs from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Open the church at 8:00 AM to do a sound check
4. Finances
In exchange for hosting, the church can bring as many team members (or potential team members) to the event
If there is a large turnout and the church spends more than $150 on lunch, Ad Lib can reimburse for lunch costs above that up to $5 per person
Notes:
It’s our goal for these events to have minimal impact on the church’s resources. Ad Lib will handle all the marketing, planning, registrations, payments, speakers, teams, etc.
Does this sound exciting to you? Email Dave@adlibmusic.com to talk about it.
