Early Monday morning, I loaded my family into our van and headed to lead worship together at a local YWAM base. My rhythm section was made up of two good friends - a missionary and my pastor.

Side note: having a pastor who is also an excellent musician is not a MUST, but it sure helps!

Things went well, even with zero sound check or rehearsal. I was comfortable leading bilingually, bouncing between English and Spanish. It’s tricky when you learn a song in one language and then lead it in another. For example, I learned Holy Forever in Spanish. I had to concentrate a lot the first time I led it in English!

Later that afternoon, I remembered that I hadn’t had my devotions that morning because we’d left so early. Oh, but I led worship, so that’s basically…

Oh, no, it’s not, is it?!

Have you been hurried into thinking that doing work for God is like being with Him?

Our minds, souls, bodies, and spirits crave time to simply listen for His voice: an inner knowing, a highlighted scripture, a beautiful glimpse of nature.

If you’re looking to get out of the rat race of constant ministry with no God alone-time, you’re in a noble pursuit!

I had a conversation with a wise missionary friend who experienced revival and renewal in his times with God. Phil was so impacted that he wrote a short book on it.

It’s called Increasing the Bandwidth of the Lord’s Prayer. You can find it at https://a.co/d/4QZUvGu.

Of course, there are many resources to help you in your times alone with the LORD. But the most important one is HAVING ONE. :)

What have you found helpful in establishing this rhythm in your life?
