Choices I Will Make To Fulfill God’s Purposes

My college friend Shad recently posted a video on Facebook to rally the troops. He asked us if we still lived with the passion for Jesus we shared as students at the University of Texas at San Antonio. We were part of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, a campus ministry that shaped and encouraged us. I got to lead worship there for several years, and during those “Large Group” worship times, Rodney would yell out, “DO ROMANS!!”

He wanted us to sing the song Romans 16:19, the scripture song that says:

Be excellent at what is good

Be innocent of evil

And the God of Peace will soon crush Satan

God will crush him underneath your feet!

Following Shad’s post, I looked on my computer for things on the subject and found a document I had made during that time. It was a list of “Choices I Will Make To Fulfill God’s Purposes.”

I’m sharing it with you today for your encouragement.

God, I am confident to stand on Your word that tells me that You who began a good work in me will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6 I know it’s not my power, but Yours, Father, at work in me to continually revitalize me, implanting within me the passion to do what pleases You. Philippians 2:13 So, empowered by the Holy Spirit, I align my will with Yours and make the following choices:

  • I WILL NOT SLACK OFF Fight the good fight (1 Timothy 6:12)

  • I WILL NOT BE DISTRACTED Do not neglect the spiritual gift within me (1 Timothy 4:14)

  • I WILL NOT BE CARELESS Take pains with these things (1 Timothy 4:15)

  • I WILL NOT WANDER Pay close attention to yourself and your teaching (1 Timothy 4:16)

  • I WILL NOT GIVE UP Persevere in these things (1 Timothy 4:16)

  • I WILL NOT LEAVE IT UP FOR GRABS Guard what God has entrusted to you (2 Timothy 1:14)

  • I WILL NOT LET IT SOUR Stir up and kindle afresh the gift of God (2 Timothy 1:6)

  • I WILL GIVE MYSELF FULLY Be absorbed in them (1 Timothy 4:15)

  • I WILL WATCH OVER IT Guard the treasure (2 Timothy 1:14)

  • I WILL ENDURE UNTIL THE END Fulfill your ministry (2 Timothy 4:5)

  • I WILL CAREFULLY CONSIDER WHAT THE LORD HAS ENTRUSTED ME WITH Take heed to the ministry which you have received from the Lord, that you may fulfill it (Colossians 4:17)

  • I WILL BE DILIGENT TO INCREASE Be a steward of the manifold grace of God (1 Peter 4:10)

I made it into a handy-dandy poster you can print and tack up somewhere for your prayer times. Enjoy!
